BRITISH ARMING

VJSJi. NOT SATISFIED LONDON, August 18. America’s Atlantic Pact chief, Mr Charles Spofford, is flying to London to tell the British Government that Washington is npt satisfied with ; “Britain’s leisurely rearmament,” reports the Washington correspondent of the “Daily Express.” In spite of official denials, there is no doubt that the' United States has expressed polite displeasure, states the correspondent. Every effort is being made to keep the exchanges out of the field of official protests, ft is felt that Britain has not gone far enough in mobilisation or in the shift of her domestic economy to an emergency basis.
