AMERICAN EAGLE
STRINGENT LAW OPERATES WASHINGTON. Law-makers here are taking steps to guard the life and future of the living emblem of American power and freedom, the bald eagle. For the last 10 years, a stringent law against molesting this eagle, its eggs and nest, has been in effect throughout the 48 States. But it is just lately that legislation has got under way on behalf of the bald eagles of Alaska, where most of the birds are found to-day, and where they long have been hunted for bounty prize money. A social measure extending protection to them has already been voted by the House and is now being considered by the Senate. The bird lives only in North America. — Reuter.
