JAPANESE SHIPS
ENTRY TO AMERICAN PORTS | GRANTED ' " A. (Rec. 10.0 a.m.) TQKIO, August 15. The United States Government has cleared all Japanese vessels for entry into American ports, according to a statement issued by General MacArthur’s headquarters to-day. The tanker Nichinan Maru (5296 tons) is expected to be the first Japanese ship to cross the Pacific to a North American port since December, 1941, when the war began between the two countries, the Japanese News Agency said. Colonel Miller, chief of civil transportation at Allied headquarters, said. “No regularly scheduled operations) for Japanese ships were at present contemplated. The News Agency added, however, that permission to operate regular lines was expected later.
