INTERESTING PAST YEAR A year full of interest and actiy- . ity was revieAved at last evening’s annual meeting of the Ashburton Girl Guides’ Association. A feature of the meeting Avas an interesting address on the Lone Guide movement, given by Miss Morland, of Christchurch, Avho is. NeAV Zealand head of that branch of the association’s Avork. Mrs G. C. Nicoll presented the, annual report and statement of receipts and expenditure, the latter shoAving a good credit balance. The report stated that the. outstanding event of the year had been the opening of the Guide and Scout Hall. Other items of interest Avere the Guides’ participation in the youth day rally, and the sending of parcels to ReAvi Alley’s School in Sandan, China. Reports presented by Mrs F. Husband, on behalf of the BroAvnies, Lieut. S Baird for the Ist Company, and Captain M. Frew for the 2nd Company, all showed a year of great activity. Sixty-four Guides and 26 Brownies are in the companies, and there is a Avaiting list for the latter group, due to the shortage of officers. The election of officials resulted: President, Mrs E. R. Easterbrook; vice-presidents, Mesdames J. Grigg and W. Lane; secretary-treasurer, Mrs G. C. Nicoll; committee, Mesdames W. R. Ryburn, J. Bathgate, R. Hart, R. C. Major, E. Moon, R. McGregor, E. A. Cocltroft, W. Denley, T. Millichamp, A. A. Caithness, L. Porter, M. WTlson, R Inch, Miss I. Chamberlain and Mrs J.’ Evans (District Commissioner, exofficio).
