RETURN FROM GREECE
FORMER NEW ZEALAND WOMAN (P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 20. For more than four years Mrs H. J. Haritonidis, formerly Miss Pauline Buddl®, has lived in Greece. To-day she arrived a,board the Wanganella, on a visit, bringing her two-year-old son.
During the guerilla warfare and Communist uprisings, Mrs Haritonidis lived' just outside Athens. “Now the civil war has ended, Greece is making headway,” she said. “Food is plentiful but very expensive, and the average family has an unvaried diet. Athens is crowded with refugees. Country people flocked in and are slow to return and cultivate their land.. Since the official rate of money fell the • black market is not so prevalent.
“The Communist risings have been crushed largely because of American aid,” she said, /
