Christchurch Marist Win The annual Rugby tournament played by South Island Catholic Clubs was concluded in Timaru yesterday, being won by Christchurch Marist, who defeated Invercargill Marist in the final ]l-S. Ashburton Celtic beat Hokitika G-3, Dunedin and Timaru' Celtic A drew o-o, while Timaru Celtic B drew with Greymouth S-S. Intoxicated in Charge Keith Collins, butcher’s assistant, of Ashburton, was charged in the Temuka Magistrate’s Court on Saturday with being intoxicated in charge of a motor vehicle at Winchester. He was convicted and fined £lO and ordered to pay doctor’s fees £1 Is, and his licence was cancelled for one year. Messrs G. A. Harris and W. S. Harbrow, Justices of the Peace, were on the Bench. Another Tiny Baby Gisborne has a claimant to the New Zealand record for the smallest baby. He is seven-weeks-old Allan Bruce Carrington, whose parents live at Makaraka. He is estimated to have weighed only IMb at birth. When he was last 'weighed a week ago he was 21b 4*02. The baby was 14 weeks premature and spent the first month with an oxygen tent covering his head and shoulders. The equipment was improvised by a sister of the Cook Hospital annexe. Wanganella Meets Rough Seas High winds Which struck the Huddart Parker liner Wanganella as soon as she cleared Sydney Heads on Friday night delayed the ship for seven hours on the trip to Auckland, where she arrived at 2 p.m. yesterday. Rough seas continued through Friday night and all day Saturday, when only about 20 passengers appeared for lunch. Most of the 357 passengers kept to their cabins until Sunday morning, when the weather had improved. At the height of the gale water was breaking fiercely over the two forward hatches. —P.A.
