SIR MICHAEL MYERS' DEATH
BRITISH GOV ERNMENT’S SYMPATHY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 10. Tlie following message has been received by the Minister of External Affairs (Mr F. W. Doidge) from the Secretary of State fop Commonwealth Relations (Mr P. Gordon Walker): “His Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom has learned with much regret of the death of Sir Michael Myers, former Chief Justice of New Zealand, who for so many years rendered distinguished service in the public life of New Zealand, and wishes to express its sympathy with New Zealand in its great loss.” ■ I SERVICE LARGELY ATTENDED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. \ There was a large congregation at the Wellington Synagogue yesterday afternoon for the service preceding the private funeral of Sir Michael Myers. It included representatives of the Gov-ernor-General, the Government, the Opposition, the Judiciary, Bar of City Council, as well as prominent citizens and friends of Sir Michael Myers. A service was conducted by the Rev. J. Wolman, who was assisted by the Rev. A. Astor, minister in charge of the Auckland Hebrew congregation. The chief mourners were Mr M. Myers (son) and Mr P. Myers (brother) . The pall-bearers were two nephews, Dr. L. Myers and Mr F. C. Myers, president of the Wellington Hebrew Congregation, Mr J. W. Heinemann and three past-presidents, Messrs C. Weinstein, B. Van Staveren and D. Markham.
