£360,000 WORTH OF LOOT
VALUABLES HIDDENI BY NAZI , LEADER . i LONDON, April 1. A silver-jdated bath which Herman Goering used Avas unearthed at Feldenstein Castle, near Regensburg, in Germany, to-day. German police said that the tub was the most pretentious, if not the most valuable find among £360,000 worth of loot buried in the grounds of the castle, which was one of Goering’s favourite Bavarian retreats. Under the direction of the United States High Commission officials the treasure hunt has already yielded 36 crates of gold and goldplated candlesticks as well as 160 bottles of rare brandy. The loot also includes gold ingots, gilded chandeliers. silverware, and rare wines. The castle is near the GermanCzech border. It was once Goeving’s hunting lodge, but is now the property of the German State. The searchers made the find after breaking into a walled-up room in a concrete underground chamber. The treasure is beieved to have been removed from Goering’s Berlin home to the castle to escape the Allied advance in 1945. * A German news agency said that the treasures belonged to the Royal House of the Netherlands and to the Rothschild family. The agency added that an Italian who learned of the treasure when he was in a German concentration camp, gave the Americans a clue.
