ATTEMPT ON ABOM’S RECORD NEW . YORK, Aprily 1. Robert Dixby and his wife, Dianna, left Newark' to-day on the second leg of their attempt to establish .a new round-the-world flying record. They left San Francisco in a converted British Mosquito and, assisted by tail winds and good weather, averaged 370 miles an hour in a flight to Newark. They hope to complete the 3647 miles, Newark to Paris hop, in 10 or 11 t hours. Their route is Paris, Cairo, Karachi, Calcutto, Tbkio and back to San Francisco, and they hope to beat the late Bill Adom’s record of 73hrs smin 11sec.
