WOMEN’S DIVISION
MEETING AT MAYFIELD 5, ' The monthly meeting of the Mayfield branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers was held in the Lodge Room when the president (Mrs T. Taylor) presided over a good attendance. A report on the executive meeting was given by the president, who also reported on. the visit to the woollen mills and Ashburton Domain. The best programme competition resulted in a win for Mrs A. Murdoch, with Mesdames Bean and Marsh second equal. Members of the Mayfield Institute■ were the guests of the branch to hear a talk on a recent trip to Massey College and a demonstration on floral arrangements, both given by Mrs G. J. Murdoch, who had many* beautiful 'bowls of flowers on exhibition. A vote of 'thanks to the speaker was passed on the motion of Mrs .1. G. Mathews. The competitions, judged by Mesdames 11, R. Tasker and Moore resulted:—Best bloom, Mesdames L. Doyle 1, G. Ellery 2, Bonisch 3; spike or truss, Mesdames J. D. Murdoch .1, Taylor 2, Painter 3. The hostesses were Mesdames Simms and H. J. Lilley.
