Improper threshing will cause barley to become “skinned” or the ends broken, either of which renders the grain useless. The principal danger lies in the drum of the thresher being revolved at too great a speed. The remedy is simple. Change the cog wheel on the drum to slow down the revolutions. Do not slow down the motor, the riddle must be kept at normal speed. Slow down the drum only.
