GOVERNMENT PROPERTY WORTH £2278

(P.A.j AUCKLAND® .Tan. 4. Charged with stealing 98 binoculars valued at £2278, the property of the New Zealand Government, Farquhar Mcßae Matheson, aged 27, labourer and soldier, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. Mi- K.. C. Ackins (for accused) consented to a remand until January 12, and requested bail. “If bail is granted I ask that it. be substantial,” said Senior-Detective Findlay. “Only 14 of the binoculars have so far been recovered.” The Magistrate fixed bail at £2OO.
