The waterfront dispute over the appointment of first-aid men has spread to 18 ships, with the probability of further trouble. Union officials say that between 1000 , and 1800 men have already walked oft vessels. The general secretary of the Waterside Workers’ Federation (Mr J. Healy) denied that the stoppage was part of the Federation policy for maritime disruption in South-West Pacific ports. He claimed that the dispute was a local one which had not even been reported to him officially.
