ST. JAMES THEATRE

CURRENT FILMS

A romantic drama in which the principals face a serious and provocative situation involving father and son in love with the same woman of the world, opened this afternoon at St. James Theatre. It is Paramount’s “My Own True Love,” co-starring Phyllis Calvert and Melvyn Douglas, and featuring Wanda Hendrix, Philip Friend and Binnie Barnes. The story, based on a novel by Yolanda Foldes, author of “Golden Earrings,” concerns the dilemma facing a couple about to be married, when the man’s son falls in love with his beautiful young fiancee. Doug-las and Miss Calvert portray the pair whose love affair founders when Douglas’s son returns from the war, embittered and unapproachable, and the older man mistakes Phyllis’s sympathy for romantic interest.
