TOURNAMENT IN CHRISTCHURCH

Town won every match against country representative teams in the annual Town v. Country tournament held in Christchurch on Saturday last. The Town v. Mid-Canterbury results were as follow:

Men’s Singles.—S. Watson beat J. Coward, 9-3; R. S. Donkin beat P. Murray, 9-6; P. W. Murdoch beat C. Hooper, 9-6; W. S. Storey beat P. Jackson, 9-3; B. R. Crawford beat J. Vessey, 9-0; D. Beatty lost to R. Cocks, 6-9. Doubles: Watson and Donkin lost to Coward and Murray, 5-6, 6-2, 5-6; Murdoch and Storey beat Jackson and Hooper, 6-2, 6-5; Crawford and Beatty beat Yessey and Cocks, 6-3, 6-5. Women’s Singles.—Miss L. Luxton beat Mrs R. W. Oakley, 9-8; Miss D. Bennett beat Mrs N. Reddecliffe, 9-7; Miss J. Tregear lost to Miss P. 'Cullen, 8-9; Miss B. Langley beat Mrs M. Porter, 9-2; Mrs. O. Cahill beat Miss M. Clai’k, 9-5; Miss O. Wilson beat Miss N. Watson, 9.2. Doubles: Misses Luxtoil and Bennett lost to Mesdames Oakley and Reddecliffe, 6-4, 1-6, 5-6; Misses Tregear and Langley beat Misses Watson and Cullen, 6-1, 6-2; Mesdames Cahill and Wilson lost to Mrs Porter and Migs Clark, 6-4, 1-6, 3-6.

Mixed Doubles.—Crawrora ana Miss Cahill beat Vessey and Miss Watson, 5-6, 6-1, 6-5; Beatty and Mrs Wilson lost to Cocks and Mrs Porter, 3-6, 2-6; Watson and Miss Luxton beat Coward and Mrs Oakley, 6-2, 6-4; Donkin and Miss Bennett beat Murray and Miss Cullen, 5-6, 6-4, 6-0; Murdoch and Miss Tregear beat Jackson and Mrs Reddecliffe, 6-3, 6-3; Storey and Miss Langley lost to Hooper and Miss Clark, 3-6, 6-5, 3-6.

Town won by 17 matches to 7.
