DOG SHOW

CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS SUCCESSFUL FIXTURE At the Dog Show in Ashburton on Saturday the winner of the John Grigg Cup for best of all breeds was a cocker spaniel “Ngaiwi Sunset,” by Mr and Mrs A. Carian, of Seaview Kennels, Foxton. This was an outstanding exhibit and the public showed their appreciation of the judge’s decision in a good round of applause. It was interesting to note that there were more local exhibitors showing this year than there has been'for a number of years, and their dogs compared favourably with other exhibits. It was gratifying, indeed, to the committee, who have put so much work into the organisation of the show, to see it so successfully carried through. Championship awards were made as follows: John Grigg Cup for best of all breeds: A. Carian and Mrs Carian. President’s Cup for best opposite sex: Mrs H. M. Sapio. Montressor Cup, for best puppy, all breeds: Mrs C. L. Ridgen. Cruchfield Cup, for best nonbreeders’ dog: R. Crum. Glenie Cup, for best non-sporting: H. M. South. Best sporting dog: A. Carian and Mrs Carian. Best working dog, Collie Cup: F. H. Hatton. Toy cup, for best toy: Mrs C. L. Ridgen. South Island Toy Dog Club’s cub, for best Pekinese: v Mrs Ridgen.
