COMES OF AGE
PRIVATE AIR ENTERPRISE LONDON. The largest British private enterprise in aviation, Airwork Limited, has celebrated it© 21st birthday. Airwork Limited, started by two young men who pooled their resources and bought an aircraft in October, 1928, to-day provides contract charter flying, repair and maintenance, flying clubs and training schools, sales and specialised aerodrome catering for Britain and the world. The company, during the last 21 years, has sold more than £2,000,000 sterling worth of British aircraft for service overseas and was the founder of M.I.S.R. Airwork S.A.E., the national airline of Egypt, which operates throughout the Near and Middle East. It has also for many years maintained and operated the air services linking the oil pipeline between Kirkuk, Tripoli and Haifa for the Iraq Petroleum Company. At one of its five airfields in Britain, it is breaking down old aircraft for scrap and spares, converting bombers for civilian use, testing aircraft for airworthiness and carrying out repairs for scheduled airlines.
