COMMENT BY MR W. MARSHALL

“BRITAIN WANTS EVERY TON” (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Doc. 2. “The last official communication we received from the British Food Minister was within the last 10 days, and in that the Ministry said it wanted every ton of Cheese and butter New Zealand could send to maintain the present ration,” said Mr W. Marshall, chairman; of the Dairy Products Marketing Commission, when the cable message was referred to him. Mr Marshall said he thought, the statements in the cable message should be treated with considerable reserve until official information was available. If the situation was really alarming, the commission would have heard of it from its London directors. Mr Marshall said, that when he was in London in July there was a fairly heavy accumulation of butter, but since then the ration had been increased by one ounce a week.
