FREE KINDERGARTEN

SUCCESSFUL STREET DAY The council of the Ashburton Free Kindergarten Association, having made, under its president, Mrs E. C. Bathurst, adequate preparations for its street 'day yesterday, met with the success it deserved. Locdl committees and mothers’ clubs in connection with both East and Allenton Kindergartens, assisted in good numbers. Stalls were in charge of the following ladies: Work, Mrs R. Leask; cake, Migf H. G. Kemp; produce and plants, Mrs H. M. Mills; jumble, Mrs J Connor. The street collection itself was in charge of Mrs T. Phillips, and the proceeds of the wholq enterprise amounted to £235, which, it is expected, will be increased by outstanding small returns.
