AMETHYST REACHES MALTA
ENTHUSIASTIC WELCOME GIVEN “■ '-I LONDON, October 18. Thousands of Maltese lined the Grand Harbour breakwater to welcome the British frigate Amethyst on its way home after its escape down the Yangtse, says Reuter’s Valetta correspondent. Soldiers and sailors at all harbour bases cheered as the frigate passed, bands played and aircraft saluted in honour overhead.
