FOOD FOR BRITAIN
BAPTIST CHURCH ACTIVITIES In the recent report presented by the food parcels committee of the Ashburton Baptist Church it was stated that during the last 12 months 48 parcels to the value of £7l 3s 5d had been sent to the Rev. G. C. and Mrs Batten, of the Greek Street Baptist Church, Stockport, Cheshire, England for distribution amongst the members of their church. Letters received from time to time show how much these gifts are appreciated and what joy and comfort they have brought to many aged and sick folk across the sea. The most acceptable articles of food, it is found, are meats, fat, honey, cheese, dried and condensed milk and bacon, while an occasional parcel of toilet and laundry soap is also appreciated. The committee expects to send several more parcels . away in time for Christmas at Home.
