STEER ESCAPES IN YARD
max later found dead (P.A.) DANNEVIRKE, Aug. 25. After a steer had jumped the rails at the Dannevirke saleyards to-day and had scattered onlookers, a man was found dead. He was: .Tames David Tnglis, aged 77, of Woodville. When the steer jumped among the spectators they made a run for safety. It is thought that Mr Tnglis, in trying to get away quickly from the raised seating, missed Ins footing and fell. He was found lying in a concrete safety passage with art injury to the right temple. CAR STRIKES SAFETY ZONE (P.A.) INVERCARGILL. Aug. 25. As the result of injuries suffered when the car ho was driving struck (he metal railing on a tram safety zone in Dee Street, a motorist was admitted to hospital this evening. He is David W. Officer, a married man, of Invercargill. Ilis condition is reported to be serious.
