NEW BRITISH JET FIGHTERS

SPEEDS OF MORE THAN 700 MILES AN HOUR LONDON, August 24. Tavo of Britain’s secret neAV jet fighters, the Hawker P 1052 and the Vickers-Supermarine 510, can fly at more than 700 miles an hour —faster than the speed of sound. This was revealed by the Society of British Aircraft Constructors to-d^-y. Hitherto, the only British aeroplane officially credited with exceeding 700 miles an hour had been the de Havilland DHIOB, an experimental aeroplane not intended to be a standard fighter. Tho two new faster-than-sound machines have been developed as ' standard fighters for the Royal Air Force and possibly for the Navy.
