THE WEATHER
STRONG WIND The weather in Ashburton to-day was fine and sunny, but a strong north-westerly wind was blowing. Recordings taken at the Domain at 9 o’clock this morning were: Maximum temperature G 4.4 degrees (the highest recorded this month), minimum temperature 49 degrees, earth temperature' 42.3 degrees, barometric reading 29.74 inches. A total of 5.8 hours of sunshine were recorded yesterday. OUTLOOK FAIR (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.in. to-morrow is as follows: General situation-: A deep depression is passing to the south of New Zealand. Moderate to strong north-westerly winds; rain in the Alps; weather continuing fair and mild on the plains. Outlook: Fair. SUN AND MOON Sun rose to-day, 7.11 a.m.; sets, 5.57 p.m.
