LABOUR PARTY POST RESIGNED

CHAIRMAN OF BRANCH AT AUCKLAND (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 23. The founder and chairman of the Auckland Central West branch of the Labour Party, Mr John Gough, resigned from office at a meeting of the branch this evening because of the attitude of the partv and the district candidate, Mr W. T. Anderton. M.P., to conscription. The branch was formed 18 mdntlis ago. Mr Gough said that the Government’s conscription policy was contrary to the fundamental principles of the Labour Party and to the expressed policy of his branch. He added that two other members also resigned at the meeting.
