PRISONER ESCAPES
SEARCH AT WELLINGTON / (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 13. A prisoner from Mt. Crawford gaol escaped from a prison Avorking party in the middle afternoon to-day. A large police party carried out searches for the escaped man and took measures aimed at preventing his escape from the Miramar Peninsula.
The escaped .man is Richard Stanley Wratten, described by the police as 27 years, sft. 7in. in height, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes and tattoo marks on his right forearm. At the time of his escape he Avas Avearing prison clothing comprising Avhite moleskin trousers, a grey jacket and possibly an army grey long-sleeved pullover. Wratten Avas serving a recefitlyimposed sentence for forgery of cheques. *
