FIRST BOUT OF SEASON MANAGOFF BEATS GUNKEL \ . ■ . (P.A.) AUCKLAND, April 17. Replacing “Lofty” Blomfield, who is suffering from an, ear infection, Ray Gunkel (United States) was beaten by two falls to one by Pete Managoff (United States), in- the Auckland Wrestling Association’s first carnival for the 1949 season. Managoff secured his first fall in the third round when he applied a figure four body scissors and a body press. In the fifth round, Gunkel evened the falls "with a body press after a series of flying tackles-and a drop-kick. Managoff took the final fall with a dump and body press in the seventh round.
