.HOCKEY CLUB’S MEETING A large number "of * members and supporters attended the annual meeting of the combined Lowcliffe Hockey Club. Mr I. Pearce (president) was

in the chair. The balance sheet was very satisfactory and the report showed that the club had passed through a successful year. Although not gaining honours the team had gained considerable experience from the play. The president commended the secretary (Mrs Price) on her work in the club’s interest. It was decided to hold a concert and dance in the Hinds Hall on April 21 in aid of the funds. Men’s, and women’s teams are to be entered in the competitions. It was hoped to arrange a friendly match .with, the Geraldine teams. It was ar-ranged-to have a working bee to improve the grounds. Election Of officers resulted: —Patroness, Mrs D. Studholme; patron, Mr W. I. Armstrong, sn^.; president, Mr A. Harris, jnr.; vice-presidents, Mesdames Barnes, Lamb, Prouting, McKay, Messrs Lamb, Hansen, Hare, Bruce and C. McKay; secretary and treasurer, Mrs H. Price; auditor, Mr R. H. Woodward; delegates to men’s association, Messrs I. Pearce and J. Sclater; delegates to lady’s/ association, Misses I. McKay and K. Bain.

HINDS P. W.M.U. AND GUILD The April meeting of the Hinds P.W.M.U. and Guild was held in the Lowcliffe Church recently. Mrs R. Taylor presided and conducted the devotions. Sympathy was expressed with a member in lier bereavement. Two visitors were welcomed to the meeting. Interesting missionary letters were received from Mrs Bailey, of Scotland and Mr and Mrs Conway, of China. Mrs Taylor gave a very interesting talk on her impressions of church work in the parts of Australia she had recently visited. She was accorded a vote of thanks on the motion of Mrs N. Kingston. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames N. Kingston and D. M. Bruce.
