HAMPSTEAD RED CROSS

RESPONSE FOR LINEN DISAPPOINTING

The Hampstead branch of the Red Cross Society ie indebted to the East School Commitee for the use of the special room in which the monthly meeting was held on Tuesday. Despite the wintry conditions there was a good attendance. Mrs Robinson presided. In the absence of the secretary, Mrs Barclay kindly acted in that capacity. Much routine business was transacted and many appreciative letters from overseas were reecived. Clothing and a good collection of tins of food for Britain were received, but the response for old linen has proved disappointing. Members were urged to make the request for old linen widely known as possible. Mrs L. Smith reported on visits to Malvern. The president reported on a visit to the Wakanui Red Cross, and to the very excellent work ebing accomplished there.

It wae the unanimous wish of the members that an invitation to a social afternoon, to be held in the near future, be extended to the Wakanui Red Cross, our neighbouring sub-branch. The social afternoon will take the form of a gift afternoon for the members of the Hampstead Red Cross. It has been very gratifying to know that many private personal replies have been received for gifts of food sent in for the large food drive last year, and which was eventually delivered to the Harben Secondary School.
