“ACID BATH” MURDERS
INQUIRIES IN MELBOURNE (Rec. 10.30) MELBOURNE, This Day. At the request of Scotland Yard, Melbourne detectives are now engaged on inquiries concerning the ■ “acid hath” murders in England.They are examining clothing and other articles given last year to Margaret Patricia Moran (24) formerly a domestic of Onslow Court, London, by John George Haigh, company director, who has been chaiged with the murder of a wealthy London widow, Mrs Durand Deacon. Miss Moran arrived in Australia on January 11. She said she had received the gifts early last year when rlaigh had a number of trunks and eases in his room at Onslow Court, and was sorting property in them. Hie gilts which she has handed to the police comprised a woman’s jumper, which she said showed signs of wear when Haigh gave it to her, a woman s brooch, a photograph of Haigh and two leather wallets. Miss Moran said that one wallet contained a small passport-type photograph of a middle aged man whom she believes Scotland Yard was seeking.
