A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr R. J. .Johnson was passed in silence at a meeting of the Ashburton Borough Council last evening. Mr Johnson was an employee of the council for many years. Mr T, G. McPherson, health inspector was authorised by the Ashburton Borough Council last evening to attend the annual meeting of the Royal Sanitary Institute at Palmerston North on April 5 and 7. Miss N. Ridley, a member of the staff of the Ashburton High School for the last three years, who is leaving to take up a position at the Methven Dis#iet High School, was made the recipient of three presentations at a function in, her honour recently. She was presented by the staff with a brief hag, with a manicure set by the pupils, and with a. book by the pupils of Hogg House.
