EXPORTS REDUCED
RUSSIAN ORES FOR UNITED STATES (Rec. 11.30) NEW YORK, Jan. 7. Russian exports of manganese ore to the United States are falling off rapidly, threatening the production of steel. It is believed that the Russians’ refusal to keep up normal supplies is part of “the cold war.” The Russians are also reducing shipments of chrome ore. The United States receives 35 per cent, of her manganese and 42 per cent, of her chrome from Russia.
