STRUCK ON HEAD

WOMAN ATTACKED IN STREET (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 7. A married woman was attacked in a city street shortly after 11 a.nr. today. The victim was Mrs Rosa Le Comte. She was taken to tire Auckland Hospital casualty department where she was treated for lacerations and discharged. Mrs Le Comte was talking to a man on the footpath when she was struck several blows on the head with a claw hammer. Screaming for help she managed to fend off some blows with her lfandbag until two bystanders rushed to her aid. The police were called and a man was later arrested. He will appear in the Police Court on a charge of committing assault so as to cause actual bodily harm.
