LEAD MINERS’ WAGES
AN INCREASE AT MOUNT ISA (Rec. 11 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. The minimum wage for adult male workers at Mount Isa mines after February 1 will be £lB 4s 7d weekly This is because the lead bonus paid to each of the 1800 employees after that date will be £ll 5s a week. With the bonus, which is assessed on the ruling overseas price of lead, most oi the skilled mine-workers are earning over £2O a week, and some get as much as £4O.
