PUBLIC NOTICES SOUTH CANTERBURY CATCHMENT BOARD. rpHE FIRE HAZARD in the Hill Country lias increased with the continuous dry weather, and a Tussock Fire at this time of the year may before being extinguished, ruin thousands of acres and damage valuable stock. One County Council or Fire Authority has prohibited the lighting of fires except by permit in the Fire District under its control. In districts where such a prohibition is not in force, campers, picnickers and the travelling public are warned against lightingfires except in a properly constructed fireplace. Fires should NOT be lit in a Strong Wind and should not be left unattended. When the fire is no longer required the ashes should be completely extinguished.
