BAKERY GUTTED

OIL FUEL BURNER EXPLODES (P.A.) GISBORNE, This Day. A bakery in Ruatoria, owned by Mr J. McDermont, was gutted by fire in the early hours of this morning, but the fire' brigade saved adjoining buildings. While Mr, McDermott was lighting an oil fuel burner under an oven it exploded, knocking him down and spraying burning oil over the bakery. Although partially stunned by the blast, Mr McDermott unavailingly endeavoured to suppress the flames, and the fire had a strong hold when the brigade arrived. The building and fittings were practically all destroyed.
