WOMEN’S DIVISION
LISMORE BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Lismore branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers was held in the school. Mrs Mould presided. A motion of sympathy was passed with the Fleming family in their bereavement, members standing in silence. Feeling reference was made to the great loss suffered, and tribute was paid to the late Mrs J. Fleming, who had the interests of the organisation so much at heart. Mrs Fleming was a foundation member of the branch, and also held office as president. Donations were made to the Leper appeal, School Committee, and Sunday School. Competitions resulted: Bloom, Miss Clucas 1, Mesdames R. Clucas and Mond (equal) 2; spring salad* Miss Cluca§ .1, Mrs R. Clucas 2; home-made toy. Miss Clucas 1. RUAPUNA BRANCH At the December meeting of the Ruapuna branch of the W.D.F.F., Mrs Clifford presided. Two members, Mesdames W. A. Arnold and J. McKimmie, who are leaving the district, were presented.with small gifts from the branch, with the hope that their active interest in the W.D.F.F. would continue. The president reported on the garden party held recently at the “Te Kiteroa” rest home at Waimate. After the meeting a party was held for the children of the district. MAYFIELD BRANCH MEETS
The monthly meeting of the Mayfield Women’s Division of the Federated Farmers was held in the Lodge Room when the president (Mrs J. D. Murdoch) presided over an excellent attendance.
A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs R. J. Anderson in her recent bereavement. > Mrs J, Smee was welcomed as a new member.
It was reported that the dressmaker had finished work in the district, and Mrs Murdoch reported on the" health film shown. A report on the recent executive meeting was given.by Mrs H. J. Lilley.
A good collection of tinned foods was received from members to be sent to England, and it was arranged that Mrs Marsh pack the parcels which are to be sent to her son Keith and Mr Harold Dalsley.
The roll call, “A Health Hint,” brought forth some valuable replies. Mrs L. Trott displayed a , seagrass stool she had made, and gave a demonstration on this and also on hemstitching. Competitions resulted: Best bloom, Mrs Doyle 1, Mrs G. Ellery 2, Mrs Boniseh; lettuces, Mrs Simms 1, Mrs Fill % Mrs Lilley 3; spike or truss, Mrs Simms I, Mrs Trott 2, Mrs G. Ellery 3; sponge, Mrs Ellery 1, Mrs Marsh 2, Mrs Trott 3; roses, Mrs Doyle 1, Mrs Lilley 2, Mrs Trott 3; booties, Mrs Fill 1, Mrs Patterson 2; article from yard of britway, Mrs Trott 1, Mesdames G. Ellery and G. Fill (equal) 2, Mrs Lilley 4.
The hostesses were Mesdames Patterson and Fill.
