PERON PARTY’S AIMS

ELECTION IN ARGENTINA BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 5. Elections are being held in Argentina to-day for a Constituent Assembly. The Peron Party is expected to capture most of. the Assembly’s 158 seats. It would then amend the Constitution to permit the President (General Peron) to serve another term. General Peron has been in office two and a half years. His term expires in 1952. The present Argentine Constitution, which was adopted in 1853, stipulates that the President must wait six years after his term expires before seeking re-election. The principal opposition to the Peron Party in the election to-day is expected to he from the Radicals. The Communists are not likely to win many seats. The counting of the ballots will begin next Aveek.
