FANCY DRESS PARTY

ASHBURTON EAST KINDERGARTEN A successful children’s fancy dress party was held in the Hampstead Memorial Hall on Friday evening by the committee of the Ashburton Last Kindergarten. A large number of children attended, and the winners of the prizes, donated by the Kindergarten Mothers’ Club, were:— Special prizes: Dugald Martin (pirate) 1, Geoffrey Harper (jockey) 2, Brian Lynn (artist) 3. Pairs; lan Harper and partner (drummers). Other prizes: Dick Whittington and his cat 1, Robin Bowden (gypsy) 2, Michael Grattan (cowboy) 3, Cane Snowden (Carmen Miranda) 4, Judy Dickinson (Rooster) 5. A cup and saucer competition was won by Judy Bicksinson. The judges were Mesdames V. W. Russell and J. Lee. Mr C, Martin controlled the children in the organised games, and Mrs F. Taylor officiated at the piano for games and dancing, the kindergarten children present, under Miss Love’s guidancey paraded for their usual musical-marching games. A delicious supper was served to all present by members of the Kindergarten committee, under the direction of Mrs R. Leask, who thanked everyone for their attendance and those who had assisted to make the function such a success.
