CHANGING CONDITIONS TO-DAY
After a very warm night and exceptionally strong winds early to-day, Ashburton experienced a prolonged drop in temperature about midway through the morning, with the sky overcast and a possibility of further rain. The maximum temperature during the 24 hours to 9 a.m. to-day was <76.8 degrees and the minimum 69, compared with 63 and 50.6 during tlie previous corresponding period. The earth temperature to-day was 59.8 compared with 60.3 degrees yesterday. There were 2.5 hours of sunshine. yesterday. The barometer had fallen this morning to 29.48 inches, from 29.67 at 9 a.m. yesterday.
OUTLOOK FAIR (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General situation: Pressure is high north-east of New Zealand, and a series of depressions is passing to the south. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows: Moderate variable winds, northerlies freshening again to-morrow; weather fair to cloudy, with warm day temperatures. Outlook: Fair. SUN, MOON AND TIDES Sun rose to-day, 4.52 a.m.; sets, 7.53 p.m. . Sun rises to-morrow, 4.51 a.m.; sets, 7.54 p.m. First Quarter, December 9, 1.57 a.m. Full Moon, December 16, 9.11 p.m. Last Quarter, December 23, 5.12 p.m. New Moon, December 30, 9.44 p.m. High tide on the County coast tomorrow: Approximately 10.26 a.m. and 10.51 p.m.
