GREAT ACTIVITY IN U.S. LONDON, December 4. America was spending millions on atomic research, said Sir Lawrence Bragg, head of the Cavendish Laboratory at Cambridge University, on his return from a lecture tour in the United States. “Every American is atom conscious, and all universities have established their own plant for research work,” he said. “Four hundred professors were in attendance on one giant machine alone.”
