BUILDING CONTROL SYSTEM

REVISED PLAN THOUGHT NECESSARY (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Nov. IG. Claiming that the present building control system is too cumbersome and too centralised to meet the changed post-war situation, the council of the building industry in Auckland has forwarded a revised plan of control to the Minister of Works (the Hon. E. Semple) and the Building Controller. While the council admitted that control wag still necessary, it contended that it should be reduced wherever possible to an absolute minimum, that it should be administered by an efficient, economic and convenient, system, and that it should lend itself to gradual easing and eventual relinquishment.
