PROTEST BY RAILWAY WORKERS
Delay In Decision On Recommendations (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 16. “The Woburn branch of the Amah gamated Society of Railway Servants recommends, to the national executive and the Society’s representatives on the combined service organisations’ committee dealing with margins and anomalies that in the event of. a satisfactory settlement not having been reached on the committee’s recommendations to the Government by noon on Friday, or at a time agreed upon by the national executives of the parties concerned, arrangements be made for a secret ballot calling for a stoppage of work or go-slow action by all Government Departments as a protest.” This resolution was passed by a meeting of the branch to-day. The Hutt Valley Railway Tradesmen’s Association at a meeting held at the Hutt workships yesterday carried unanimously the following, resolution: “This, branch strongly protests at the attitude taken by the Government in the handling of recommendations presented by the Margins and Anomalies Committee. This branch demands that the Government arrive at a speedy and satisfactory settlement. We call on all members of the Railways Tradesmen’s Association to support any action deemed necessary by the national executive.”
