RUAPEHU TRAGEDY
v BOARD OF INQUIRY SITS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The board of inquiry appointed following the Ruapehu air disaster formally opened its sittings in Wellington to-day, with Sir Harold Johnston as chairman. Mr W. H. Cunningham appeared for the Air Department, and Mr J. W. Virtue for National Airways Corporation. Mr Cunningham said the preparation and co-ordination of the evidence to he placed before the board had not yet been completed, but the Department would be ready to proceed on Monday, December G. It was expected that the evidence would he finished by the end of that week. The chairman indicated that it was desirable that any persons wishing to give evidence should have the opportunity to do so, and should communicate at once with the secretary to the board, care of the Air Department, Wellington.
