CHARGES AGAINST CONGRESSMAN

MR THOMAS APPEARING BEFORE JURY WASHINGTON, Oct. 24. The United States Justice Department to-night invited Mr J. Parnell Thomas to appear in person before the Federal Grand Jury, Avhich is mvestigating the charges against him of having received money unlawfully from his employees. Mr Thomas, who is chairman of the Un-American Activities Committee of the House of Representatives, said he had insisted on appearing. A Justice Department spokesman denied on behalf of the AttorneyGeneral (Mr Tom Clark) that the investigation was politically inspired, as alleged by Mr Thomas in a letter to Mr Clark.
