ACTION BY AUSTRALIAN STATES (Rec. 10.45) MELBOURNE, This Day. To. prevent cornering and hoarding, a conference of Ministers from all States on prices agreed not to disclose items released from control before September 20 when Commonwealth controls lapse. . . „ The New South Wales Minister ot Labour, Mr Finnan, said that unscrupulous manufacturers were withholding from consumers of £.8,000,000 worth ot Government-subsidised goods, intenciing to sell goods at higher prices on the free market when the Federal Government abolishes subsidies next month. Mr Finnan said: “This is much worse than black-marketing. It amounts to thieving. The States have'the right to enter and seize ,cornered or withheld goods, and they will leave no stone unturned to trace them.”
