Ingleside—The Ashburton, Scottish Society’s second Ingleside was held last night, and a very large attendance spent a pleasant evening in a revival of Scottish song and dance. The programme opened with a selection by the Pipe Band, and there followed musical items of an enjoyable nature. Mesdames W. McDonald and E. G. Craighead and Mr McDonald gave an excellent instrumental trio; songs were given by Messrs Craighead, M. McMillan and Beasley. Dances were contributed by Misses M. Donn and E. McElhinney. After supper dancing followed, and two old Scottish dances, “The Patrinella,” and “The Flower o’ Edinburgh,” were performed.
