ST. JAMES THEATRE
“South of the Chisholm Trial,” newest of tile “Durango Kid” series, will commence at the St. James Theatro tonight. Following is the story:—• When ranchers of Bearcat, a Western) town, are plagued by rustlers, “Big Jim” Grady (Frank Scully), a cattle operator, offers to buy their cattle from them. Suspicious, Steve Haley (Charles Starrett), alias the Durango Kid, instead suggests to the discouraged ranchers that they band together to market their product. Meanwhile, Steve’s friend, Smiley (Smiley. Burnette), joins the rustlers to ferret out information as to their leader. “Doc” WaLker (George Chesebro), Grady’s henchman, asks Steve to help break up the cattle drive and he agrees to play along in order to obtain information. Despite attempts of the rustlers to break up the cattle drive, it succeeds, largely through the intervention of the Durango Kid. Steve exposes Grady as ythe rustlers’. leader and then kills him in an exciting gun duel.
Also screening is “Undercover Girl,” starring Ann Sothern in her latest “Maisie” adventure.
