DEATH OF NOTED FARMER

MR JAMES REID, DARFIELD (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The death has occurred at Chfistchurch of Mr James Reid, of Riversleigh, Darfield, one of New Zealand’s best-known Corriedale and English Leicester stud breeders. Born at Beith, Ayrshire, Scotland, m September, 1866, Mr Reid came to New Zealand in 1883. In 1888, with an eldei brother, Robert Reid, he took up the Riversleigh property of 428 acres. He and his brother ran stud Corriedale and English Leicester flocks until Robert Reid died in 1928, and then James Reid carried on alone. The Reid’s stud flocks were among the first of their kind to he established in this country, and many of his stOGk sold readily overseas.
