BATTLE OF BRITAIN

Mass Fly-Past Over London (Rec. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 15. A mass fly-past over London of aircraft of the R.A.F., Royal Navy and the American and Czechoslovakian Air Forces opened the “Battle of Britain” week, during which every town and village will commemorate the event in some way. A single Hurricane, symbol of the men and aircraft of the Battle of Britain, led the fly-past, in which 130 aircraft, comprising fighters, fighter - bombers, and heavy bombers, took part.

The planes roared over London in an almost cloudless sky 'at a height of between 1000 and 2000 feet.
